interaction and cooperation of the Police Department
and citizens of the community.

Police Chief
Timothy P. Moseley
Chief Moseley has twenty-five years of law
enforcement experience. Sixteen of those years
have been with Ayden Police Department. He
worked his way up the ranks from Police Officer, and
was promoted to Chief on September 10, 2007.
Chief Moseley is an Ayden native. He is
married to his wife of twenty years, Julie.
They have one daughter, Logan. Chief Moseley
enjoys golf and, spending time with his family in
his spare time. |

Captain Richard Patterson
Administrative and Investigation Division
Captain Richard S.
Patterson is a sixteen-year veteran of the Ayden
Police Department. He started his law
enforcement career in 1992 at Ayden Police
Department. Prior to Captain Patterson's Law
enforcement career, Patterson served in the U.S.
Army in the 82nd Airborne Division, specifically, B
Company 82nd Signal Battalion, and is a veteran of
Desert Storm/Shield. Captain Patterson is
married with two children. He is currently
pursuing his Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice at
Mount Olive College. Captain Patterson is also a
Prince Hall Mason, Grand Inspector General and
Shriner. |

Lieutenant Chris Forehand
Uniformed Patrol Division and Traffic Enforcement
Lieutenant Forehand has
been with the Ayden Police Department for 14 years.
He is originally from Edenton, NC, and moved to Pitt
County in 1989 where he attended college at Pitt
Community College and earned his Associate Degree in
Criminal Justice. He started his law
enforcement career in Ayden as a Reserve Office, and
part-time dispatcher, and has moved up the ranks to
Lieutenant. He enjoys playing golf, fishing,
hunting and spending time with his family in his
time off. |

The Ayden Police Department is
very active in the Town of Ayden and has started several
community policing programs. The Police
Department has worked with the citizens to reduce
the fear crime, and improve the quality of life in
the neighborhoods.
Ayden Police
Department was presented with the Governor's Award for
Excellence in Community Oriented Policing, and has won
the OASIS award for excellence in programs for the
schools. The Ayden Police Department has been
working hard to get involved in many events that take
place throughout the year. Some of the community
oriented programs include Safe Night Out on Halloween,
and Shop with a Cop for the Holiday Season, Adopt a Cop,
Truancy, Volunteers in Police Service, and an Elderly
Watch Program. The Ayden Community Policing
Council was formed and is active today. This council
meets on the third
Tuesday of each month and helps the police identify
problems and find solutions to the problems. Pictures are available in the

The Town of Ayden
maintains their own communications center.
Around the clock dispatchers are able to take police
calls, dispatch officers, and they also take
emergency electrical phone calls. |

Animal
Control |

 |
The
Ayden Police Department has one part-time animal
control officer, who patrols the streets of Ayden,
looking for stray, injured, and at large animals.
The animal control officer also operates a shelter
for the animals, which is located at the Town of
Ayden Operations Center. |
