A new certificate hanging on the wall in Ayden Police Chief Tim Moseley’s office declares that he has accomplished one of his significant goals. The certificate recognizes Moseley’s completion of the Law Enforcement Executive Program through NC State University.

Ayden Community Policing Council Seeks Ways To Get Involved
About twenty concerned citizens and Ayden police officers gathered at the Ayden Community Building last Tuesday for their monthly Community Policing Council meeting. The group had anticipated hearing from Democratic NC Senate District 5 candidate Don Davis, but due to an unanticipated scheduling conflict, they were left without a speaker. Instead, the group took some time to have a round table discussion about the concerns and interests of the group on community issues both crime related and of interest to the general public.

Ayden Hires New GIS Mapping Technician
Citizens of Ayden can rest assured that town staff is doing everything they can to make sure that the water, sewer and electricity services they receive are top notch. One crucial way for the town to maintain a high service level is to be prepared and informed about the entire infrastructures of these services. The town recently expanded their Geographic Information Systems, or GIS, program by adding technician Bill Harris to the staff to achieve a broader database that will do just that.

Errors Uncovered: Parcels in Ayden and Grifton to Get New Revaluations
Property owners in Ayden and Grifton may have gotten a surprise when the received their revaluation notice from Pitt County. Tax Assessor Glenn Cutrell said that some of the parcels in the area received revaluations that were lower than the county would have expected. The error was not caught until after the notices had already been mailed.

Cannon-Parker is Ayden's Top Citizen
Alice Cannon-Parker was named Ayden's 2007 Citizen of the Year during Friday night's Ayden Chamber of Commerce Banquet. The award was presented to Cannon-Parker by Mary Alice Davenport, the 2006 recipient.

Ayden has been selected as a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. It is the fourth year Ayden has received this national recognition.
