Position Title: Street Maintenance Worker
Hiring Salary from $22,500 to $25,000 with Excellent Benefits (Starting Salary: Depending on Qualifications) Under general supervision an employee in this position performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work in the repair and construction of street, grounds, cemeteries, and drainage systems. Work involves manual labor and the operation of tools and equipment including hand tools and power tools, patching potholes, raking asphalt, digging, maintaining grounds and cemeteries, picking up debris, emptying trash containers, forming and placing concrete and other tasks associated with repairing and maintaining streets, sidewalks, rights-of-ways and storm drains. Additional duties include serving as a member of a crew during snow and leaf season and driving dump trucks or light equipment. Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, extreme temperatures and exposure to various hazards. Employees in this position work a full-time, 4-day workweek and are subject to on-call and call-back work. Possession of a high school diploma or GED and NC Commercial Drivers License is preferred with some experience in landscaping, concrete construction and storm water system maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of a valid NC driver’s license is required. The position is considered safety sensitive and as a conditional offer of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment medical exam and drug screen.
