The Town of Ayden, incorporated in 1891, is a municipality chartered as a Council-Manager form of government. The Town of Ayden Administrative Department is comprised of the Town Manager and Town Clerk.
Town Manager
Stephen Smith is Ayden’s Town Manager. The Town Manager serves as Chief Administrative Officer and is responsible for implementing policies and ordinances adopted by the Town Board, his duties are further described in NC General Statue 160A-148. As Chief Administrative Officer, the manager’s authority includes making all personnel decisions, supervising all Town departments, enforcing Town ordinances, overseeing preparation of the annual operating budget for Board approval, and conducting the day-to-day business of the Town.
